HTTP Archive launches Core Web Vitals technology report

Google’s Rick Viscomi (@rick_viscomi) earlier today introduced the new Core Web Vitals Technology Report. This dashboard is a tool from HTTP Archive, an open source community project that Rick helps maintain. The Core Web Vitals Technology Report is a self-serve Looker Studio dashboard that explores the technologies that underpin website user experiences, and compares how different Content Management Systems like Duda perform when measured against Core Web Vitals metrics.

This dashboard was developed for the web community to have a shared source of truth for the way websites are both built and experienced. For example, the CWV Technology Report can tell you what percentage of websites built with WordPress [or Duda - Ed.] pass the CWV assessment. While a number like this on its own is interesting, what's more useful is the ability to track this over time and compare it to other CMSs. And that's exactly what the dashboard offers; it's an interactive way to view how websites perform, broken down by nearly 2,000 technologies.

The dashboard tracks performance over time on the key Core Web Vitals (CWV) metrics of Largest Contentful Paint (LCP), First Input Delay (FID), and Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS). It also tracks the aggregate metric when a website passes all three of those metrics concurrently.

The dashboard looks like this:

Want to check out the Core Web Vitals Technology Report dashboard yourself? Try it out (and be sure to see how Duda compares with competitors like WordPress, Wix, and Squarespace).

The Duda team and other industry leaders got to see the dashboard firsthand today at Google’s CMS Leadership Summit. At the Summit, Duda's Director of Strategic Integrations Russ Jeffery presented Duda's approach and methodology for continuous improvement and tuning that is being done on the Duda platform to optimize for Core Web Vitals.

Russ shared Duda's Core Web Vitals methodology and gave examples of what is being done at the platform level to measure, analyze, and continuously improve Duda to ensure our customers' websites are aligned with Google's latest best practices.

We applaud the Google team for making this CMS-level Core Web Vitals data openly available. In doing so, they are presenting a open dataset the entire industry can reference in order to collectively improve user experience across the web.
