Where To Get Images For Your Site

Photographs and other imagery are an important part of putting together a beautiful and appealing website. After all, nobody wants to look at a site that is just straight text. But this begs the question, “Where do I get these all-precious images for my website?”

Well, there are a few options.

1) Free Images From Duda

Inside Duda’s editor, you can access a gallery full of a wide variety images and photographs that can be used to represent your business and add personality to your site. In there, you’ll find pictures of everything from a bride and groom to people waving American flags. Simply click on an image select “Replace” to open the gallery.

2) Stock Photo Services

This second option has both pros and cons. Here are the big two.

The Good: You’ll probably have an incredibly extensive library of images to pull from.

The Not-So-Good: You’ll probably have to pay for it.

A quick Google search for “stock images” will return loads of these kind of services. Most of the better ones will allow you to search their vast libraries before having to register for an account or pay a fee. If you’re thinking of going this route, take your time and find one you really like before committing.

A few common stock image services are:

3) Invest In A Nice Camera

If you’ve got the eye for it, buying a nice camera and taking photos of your business is a great way to go. This enables you to get the exact kind of shots you want to show off on your website and only requires the one-time cost of springing for the equipment (it’s probably a good idea to get a tripod to go along with that shiny new camera). This also has the inherent benefit over stock imagery of being real (trust us, your customers can tell). Keep in mind that you’re going to want to capture more than just pictures of your brick-and-mortar store. Action shots are great and it always helps to get smiling customers on film.

Who knows? Maybe you’ll even pick up a new hobby!

A quick side note; it may seem enticing to go ahead and do this with the camera on your iPhone. Don’t. The image quality just won’t be as sharp.

4) Hire A Pro

If you aren’t exactly confident in your ability as a photographer, or just flat out don’t have the time, hiring a pro to come do a photo shoot is a good alternative. Like everything else on this list, there are pros and cons.

Pros

  • You’ll end up with images of your actual business.
  • They’ll probably be absolutely awesome in quality.
  • You won’t have to do any of the work.
  • Your photographer will most likely offer editing to give your photos an extra polished feel.

Cons

  • It’s going to be expensive. Like, really expensive .

So there you have it- four great ways to go about getting images for your business’ website. Deciding which one is right for you may take some consideration, but don’t get too hung up on that. Picking out images or doing a photo shoot is a great chance to let your creative juices flow, have a bit of fun and add some character to your website.
