Integrated technology solutions are crucial for SMBs
The ability to integrate with other tools and software was identified as a top factor influencing SMBs to consolidate their technology stack with their current main software provider, with nearly 52% of respondents highlighting its importance. This reflects a growing need for comprehensive, integrated solutions that enhance operational efficiency and revenue generation for SMBs.
Websites as a key offering for SaaS platforms
With websites being an important source of revenue for 98.7% of SMBs, the survey found that 88% of SMB owners see significant value in having a website integrated with their backend technology. Notably, 42% of small restaurant owners and 44% of professional service providers reported having their websites built by their primary software provider.
Increased demand for multi-product SaaS solutions
Nearly 60% of SMB owners expressed a willingness to purchase more products and services from their current SaaS platforms. This trend underscores the importance of a multi-product strategy for SaaS companies, aiming to solve more problems for their customers and enhance their retention rates.
Growth in investment for vertical solutions
The survey revealed that 61% of SMBs plan to increase their spending on vertical solutions in 2024 compared to 2023. Additionally, 43% of SMB owners are more likely to consider buying industry-specific software in the upcoming year. Sales & Marketing emerged as the primary area where SMBs utilize or plan to implement vertical solutions.
“As the leading professional website builder for agencies and SaaS platforms, we wanted to reach out to SMB owners to understand their needs and expectations of their technology providers – and help our customers better serve them. One of our findings is that most SMB owners want a website that is integrated with their main software, so offering integrated websites can be a good opportunity for many SaaS companies that serve SMBs,” said Itai Sadan, CEO and co-founder of Duda.
The survey, administered online by Global Surveyz Research, involved 300 SMB owners from the US and Europe, with businesses ranging between 1 and 99 employees. The respondents were recruited through a global B2B research panel and completed the survey during the first half of 2024. The average time spent on the survey was 5 minutes and 3 seconds, with randomized answers to prevent order bias.
